Alda Mae (Webb) Stapleton, 94, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Hill Top House in Bucklin, Kansas. The fourth child of Stell Russell and Verla Lavina (Johnson) Webb, she was born April 7, 1928 on the family farm in rural Stevens County, 18 miles west of Liberal. She attended Lafayette School, later attending Hugoton High School. She married Clifford Eugene Stapleton on May 27, 1945 on the same family farm where she was born.\n\nThe Stapleton family farm, four miles south of Sublette, became their home as a young married couple. Alda Mae became a homemaker and helped on the farm driving the tractor and combine, and helped with irrigation. But the most important role in her life was that of mother to her five children, Roy Van, Randall, Rodney, Rita, and Rick. Later in life, Alda Mae and Clifford enjoyed the Sandhill Rod and Custom Club events and traveling in their motorhome. Clifford passed in 2001\n\nAlda Mae was a member of the Sublette Church of the Nazarene, a member of the Banner Club and the Friendly Neighbor Club for many years.\n\nShe is survived by her daughter, Rita Stapleton of South Hutchinson, KS; sons, Roy Van Stapleton and wife Sharon of Liberal, KS, Randall Stapleton and wife Pam of Apache Junction, AZ, Rodney Stapleton and wife Janis of Mullinville, KS, and Rick Stapleton and wife Peggy of Dodge City, KS; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.\n\nShe is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Stapleton; sister, Lavonne Brown; and brothers, Verl Webb and Delmer Webb.\n\nVisitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24th at Weeks Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
