George Keith "Cudge" Armentrout, 77, passed away Nov. 1st 2015 at the KS Veterans Home in Winfield. He was born July 11, 1938 in Plains, KS, to Clement Keith and Eileen Marie (Derby) Armentrout. He attended Sublette High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in September 1961 and stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served with the Battalion Combat Engineers and qualified as Expert Marksmanship at both the Carbine & Rifle. He was honorably discharged in 1963. On returning to civilian life he became a truck driver and drove most of his adult life. He was married to Avis J Small, a Teacher in 1969, they made their home in Spring Hill, KS and then later Paola, KS. Keith was involved with the Scouts, his highlights include camping & hiking at Philmont Scout Ranch and helping his son achieve Eagle Scout and God & Country. They divorced in 1986 and Keith returned home to Sublette, Kansas. He moved to the Ft Dodge Soldiers Home in 2006. He had recently moved to the KS Veterans Home in Winfield, KS where he suffered a severe stroke on October 13, 2015. Cudge had a sense of humor and enjoyed teasing people. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing, reading, playing cards & dominoes. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a brother, Charles Armentrout, Wichita, KS, a special niece Pam (Jeff) Wiens, Wichita, KS, a son Bill (Kathy) Randle, a granddaughter Kasey (Jesse) Biehler and a great-granddaughter Breeley all of Prairie Village, KS. There will be a military graveside service at the Haskell County Cemetery at a later date. He always had a love of dogs and cared deeply for fellow vets, so in lieu of flowers the family request donations (which will be matched) to the Kansas City Chapter of Pets for Vets, P.O.
