SATANTA- Iris Loene Strait, 83, died November 28, 2020 at Satanta Long Term Care Unit. She was born on January 30, 1937 in Wapato, Washington, the daughter of John Mark and Thelma (Houseman) Bowers. As a toddler, the Bowers family moved back home to the farm near Adams, Oklahoma.\n\nIris attended, and graduated from Adams High School where she excelled in basketball. This is also where she met the love of her life, Warren Strait. They were married on July 17, 1955, and lived in several states before settling on a farm near Adams. She worked in various positions in the Adams and Hooker schools before moving to Satanta in 2000 after the death of Warren.\n\nIris is survived by two children, Kyle Strait of Kennewick, Washington; and Monica Hanson and husband Mark of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Eric Strait and wife L'Quita, Cody Strait, Tasia Hanson and husband Justin, Tiara Hill, and Chantelle Erickson; and thirteen great grandchildren. \n\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; her parents; a brother, Ferrell Wayne Bowers; and infant sister, Arloa Krene Bowers.\n\nA memorial service will be held at a later date.
