Gerald Wayne "Jerry" Spanier, 80, passed away on August 28, 2022 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on July 31, 1942 to Opal Beulah (Wilks) and Eugene E. Spanier at Garden City, Kansas. He attended Copeland schools graduating in 1960. He married Jo Anne Blundell on September 7, 1965 in Lincoln, Nebraska.\n\nJerry was a farmer and took great pride in raising good crops. The same dedication was given to his garden which produced an abundance of various vegetables. He enjoyed watching any sporting competition on television and became an avid K-State fan when his nephew played football there.\n\nHe was a member of the Copeland Christian Church and the American Legion Post #369.\n\nJerry is survived by his wife, Jo Anne, of Copeland, KS; daughters, Robin Bennet and husband, Jody, of Grand Island, NE, and Heather Spanier of Copeland, KS; grandchildren, Erika and Damon Bennet; brothers, Richard Spanier and wife, Margaret, of Shell Beach, CA, and Virgil Spanier and wife, Chris, of Salida, CO; sister, Karen Marshal and husband, Larry, of The Colony, TX; and sister-in-law, Sharon Spanier of Copeland, KS.\n\nHe is preceded in death by a son, Ty Spanier; grandson, Ashton; parents, Eugene and Opal Spanier; brother, Ronnie Spanier.\n\nVisitation will be 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory.\n\nGraveside service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Copeland Cemetery with Pastor Doug Harris officiating.\n\nMemorial donations can be made payable to Copeland American Legion Post #369 in care of Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 1200, Sublette, KS 67877.
