LEOTI - Johnie Mae (Hayden) Medina, 79, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas. She was born on May 27, 1941 to Dorothy May (Pinney) and John Elmer Hayden in Hobbs, New Mexico. She married Isabel Medina on August 26, 1958 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before Isabel passed on October 11, 2018.\n\nOver the years, Johnie amassed an impressive collection of bells, purchasing many for herself and receiving others as gifts from friends and family. Johnie enjoyed spending time playing bingo at the Tribune VFW or visiting with friends, either in person or on the phone. Family was important to Johnie and she had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.\n\nShe is survived by a son, David Medina of Ness City; a daughter, Debbie Eckert and husband, George, of Leoti; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Tyler of Ulysses, KS, and Della Tucker of St. John, KS; and a brother, Sam Hayden and wife Judy of Macksville, KS.\n\nShe is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jill Medina; and daughter-in-law, Diane Medina.\n\nMemorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Leoti United Methodist Church with Pastor Brad Kirk officiating.
