Joyce Elaine Baughman (Cockrum) Obituary (1953 - 2017)

Joyce Elaine Baughman, 64, died July 22, 2017 at her home in Hugoton, KS. She was born January 4, 1953, to Darius Ethen Cockrum and June Hess Cockrum in Ulysess, KS. She earned her bachelor of science in biology from Southwestern College and masters of science in science education from Kansas State University. She married Gary Loyd Baughman August 21, 1977 in Johnson, KS. Joyce worked along side her husband at the Animal Health Center for over 30 years. She volunteered in the community as a 4-H project leader, community club leader, extension council member and secretary. She served 8 years on the Stevens County Hospital and Long Term Care Unit board as trustee, secretary, and president. She is survived by her husband Gary Loyd Baughman; sons, Duane Morgan Baughman of Manhattan, KS, Ethan Baughman and wife Christen Marie Buseman of Crestwood, MO; a granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Baughman; a grandson James Edward Baughman; sisters, Carolyn Baylor of Florida and Nancy Murray (Harold) of Missouri; a brother Darrell Cockrum (Wynn) of Johnson, KS; nieces, Ashley Fiss (Andy), Dawn Knapek (Michael), Kendra Piening (Johnny), Chrissie Truhe (Bobby); nephews, Dirk Cockrum (Jennifer), Bryan Baylor (Pam), Con Cockrum (Allie), Jonathon Frahm (Tia), Karlin Frahm; and 11 grand-nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Edward Baylor. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Hugoton United Methodist Church. Reverend Becky Davidson presiding. Cremation has taken place.
