\nMargaret Isabel (Little) Schmidt passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 4, 2024 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas, just shy of her 100th birthday. Margaret was a beloved member of the farming community in which she lived and her church, where she served with dedication and love. \n\nMargaret was born on March 24, 1924 to Frances Shelton (Cole) and John Martin Little in Rocky Ford, Colorado. While in high school, Margaret joined other women of the community working in the fields picking produce as the men left to fight in WWII. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1943. Later, as the war continued, she moved to Kansas City to work at the Nazarene Publishing House. A mutual friend soon introduced Margaret to David Daniel Schmidt; they fell in love and were married on December 10, 1948 at the Church of the Nazarene in Rocky Ford.\n\nMargaret's faith was the cornerstone of her life and she was a dedicated member of the Sublette Church of the Nazarene. Her devotion was evident in her service as the missionary president for many years, a church board member for over three decades, and as the board secretary. Her warm smile welcomed many as she served as a greeter at the church. Besides her religious involvement, she was a proud member of the Banner Club for over 50 years.\n\nMargaret found joy in photography, capturing the beauty of landscapes and the joy of special occasions. Her photos were not just pictures; they were memories, capturing a lifetime of love, laughter, and faith. In her later years, Margaret found gratification in the fellowship at the Pride of Life, where she enjoyed having lunch and participating in bible study. But, what mattered most to Margaret were her grandsons and the events of their lives. She prayed for them continually and took immense joy in their achievements.\n\nMargaret is survived by her devoted children, Carol White and husband Lynn of Plains, KS, and Edwin Schmidt of Plains, KS; grandsons, Jared White of Kansas City, KS, Matthew White and wife Quinn of Shawnee, KS, and Caleb White and wife Emily of Troy, NY; and great-grandchildren, Miles, Margot and Nora White.\n\nShe is preceded in death by her husband, David Schmidt; parents, John and Frances Little; sisters, Alice Stockton, Julia Ellsworth, Anna May Church, and Grace Schack; and a brother, John Little.\n\nVisitation will be from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Weeks Family Funeral Home and Crematory with the family receiving friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.\n\nFuneral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Church of the Nazarene in Sublette, Kansas, with Rev. Dr. Don Strohmeyer and Rev. Lynn White officiating. Interment immediately following the service at Banner Cemetery.\n\nMemorial contributions can be made payable to Sublette Church of the Nazarene in care of Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 1200, Sublette, KS 67877.
