Milan Birney

Milan Cecil Birney, 69, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026, in Clarksville, Arkansas.

He was born March 8, 1957, in Sublette, Kansas, to Robert Frank and Marcille LaNita (Reiss) Birney. Milan grew up in Sublette, attended Sublette schools and enjoyed playing basketball with his brothers and friends.

Milan married Penny Sue Clymer on July 17, 1992, and they had two children, Coty and Desirae.

Milan worked for many years as a loader operator at Miller Feedyard in Satanta, Kansas. He later worked at Walmart in Liberal, Kansas, before relocating to Clarksville, Arkansas, to be closer to his sister. He transferred to the Walmart Supercenter in Clarksville, where he retired after more than 20 years with the company.

Milan enjoyed yardwork, camping and good food. He liked spending time outdoors and keeping busy. He also enjoyed spending time with his sister, Marita, and caring for his niece, Carrie Jo. He especially loved his dog, Spencer. Milan loved sports, especially football. He was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan and was excited to see his favorite team win the Super Bowl.

Milan is survived by his son, Coty Birney and companion Laurie Meadows of Satanta, KS; daughter, Desirae Jaso and husband David of Satanta, KS; two grandchildren, Maddison and Haven Jaso; two brothers, Marc Birney and wife Rita of Sublette, KS, and Max Birney and wife Jillae of Olathe, KS; sister, Marita Hampton of Clarksville, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Roxane (Boynton) Birney; his parents, Robert and Marcille Birney; and his sister, Marla Birney.

There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette, Kansas.
