It is with great joy that we announce grandma Jean-Jean has received her heavenly wings on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and community. \n\nJean Yount, 89, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend was born Norma Jean Harrison to Harvey Alonzo and Stella Angeline (Malone) Harrison on March 14, 1934, in rural Gray County, Kansas, Jean lived a life of service and love. \n\nJean married the love of her life, Basil William “Bill” Yount, on September 3, 1950. They shared many cherished years together until his passing November 30, 1989.\n\nJean was a woman of many talents. She devoted her professional life to education, serving as a paraprofessional, where she touched the lives of many children. Upon retirement, she found joy in simple pleasures such as working in her yard, growing flowers, and crafting projects. A faithful fan, Jean never missed a KU Basketball game on TV. Her love for her community was evident in her active involvement in the Sublette Christian Church, where she selflessly volunteered for Vacation Bible School, making and serving cookies, and helping with funeral dinners. She was famous for her ginger molasses cookies.\n\nHer memory will be lovingly cherished by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Yount of Sublette, KS; grandchildren, Nikki Pearson and husband Erik of Hill City, MN, TJ Collins and Amber Gelsinger of Gainesville, MO, and Haley Stoppel and husband Chris of Sublette, KS; and great-grandchildren, Shaley Pearson, Jacob Stoppel, Tyler Pearson, Brayden Stoppel, Sawyer Collins, Deacon Stoppel, Rowdy Collins, and Garrison Stoppel.\n\nJean is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Stella Harrison; husband, Basil William “Bill” Yount; children, Basil William “Bill” Yount, Jr., and Darla Collins; brothers, Eldon, George, and James Harrison; and sisters, Mildred Standley, and Marie Ross.\n\nFuneral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at the Sublette Christian Church with Pastor David Erwin and Pastor Mark Dierking officiating.
