Roena Brown Obituary (1931 - 2024)

Roena Therese Coats Brown, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Satanta Long Term Care. She was born on August 18, 1931 to Emma Vergi (Champagne) and William Henry Coats in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Roena spent her childhood between Ponca City and Louisiana, graduating from Ponca City High School. She moved to Satanta, Kansas in 1964 where she worked for Ashland Oil Company. Roena was amateur artist, an avid reader, and a wide ranging traveler. She enjoyed shopping and was a woman with excellent style. There wasn’t a store in the area that didn’t know and enjoy her company when she would come in. Roena loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; there was rarely a visit without a gift to show her love. She was proud of her family and wasn’t afraid to tell anyone who would listen about the newest adventure or accomplishment of her people. She is survived by her children, Robert Lee Mann of Satanta, KS, and Lynn Weeks and husband Bruce of Lawrence, KS; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother, William Coats and wife Pauline of Shidler, OK. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gene Brown; and a son, Billy Eugene Brown. Cremation services entrusted to Weeks Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Sublette, Kansas. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date. The family wants to express their gratitude to the staff at Satanta Long Term Care.
