Ruby Lorene (Snavely) Rutledge, 93, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas from heart issues. She was born on April 1, 1928 in Garden City, Kansas to Ruth Amelia (Lindeman) and Samuel David Snavely. She was raised on the family farm north of Sublette, Kansas. Ruby attended Ivanhoe Grade School as a young girl and later Sublette High School, graduating in 1946. She continued her education at Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1951 with a dual degree in Business and English. \n\nRuby became acquainted with Verne Rutledge, a life long Haskell County resident, while she was in college. They were married November 10, 1951 at the Sublette Christian Church. She was a homemaker and a legal secretary for many years. \n\nAlways willing to hit the road, Verne and Ruby spent many winters in South Padre Island, Texas. They enjoyed weekends in Wichita and Denver, going to the horse races. Their travels also took them to Utah and Arlington, Texas to visit family. Ruby liked to socialize with friends and was a member of several bridge clubs over the years in both Liberal and Sublette. \n\nRuby was a resident of Haskell County, Kansas until 2008 when she and Verne moved to Liberal, Kansas to be close to their family. They became members of the First Christian Church in Liberal after being very active members of the Sublette Christian Church. Both Ruby and Verne loved being involved in their grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives.\n\nRuby is survived by one daughter, Vanessa "Vanny" Greeson and husband Todd of Liberal, KS; grandchildren, Shay Greeson of Abernathy, TX, Staci Greeson of Corpus Christi, TX, Jessi "Fred" Greeson of Liberal KS, Carl Greeson and wife Brie, of Beaver, OK, Kyle Rutledge and wife Michelle of Calhan, CO, and Laci Rutledge of Newton, KS; great-grandchildren, Riley Rivera, Braxtyn Foti, Mariah Garverick, Daniel (Jr) Fiallos, Kayin Fiallos, Entenia Fiallos, Arman Fiallos, Roxy Olvera, Teagen Greeson, Quay Greeson, Joe Rutledge, Adam Rutledge, Braxton Wakefield, Jaxton Wakefield, Carson Wakefield, and Grayson Wakefield.\n\nRuby was preceded in death by husband, Verne Rutledge; a son, Reese Rutledge; a baby granddaughter, Sonni Rutledge; a brother, Lewis Snavely; sisters, Nita Draper, Louise Grabast, and Marie Kells; and two nieces. \n\nVisitation will be from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory.
